Jan Grové is a South African singer famously known as the first husband of legendary Afrikaans singer Mynie Grové.

Born in Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal, Jan Grové was schooled in Pietermaritzburg and Durban. He later studied maths and physics at Stellenbosch University, where he met a guy called Tony Osler, and the two began singing together.

Tony and Jan would later audition to become members of the Claude Larsen Singers at a similar time that Mynie also auditioned. Mynie and Jan hit it off and soon started singing together, eventually getting married in 1972. The couple had a child together, a son named Jean.

Mynie and Jan Grové’s debut album was ‘Ek Verlang Nog Altyd’ which featured Falling Mirror’s Allan Faull on bass guitar.

The couple later separated in 1978 when Mynie moved to Johannesburg, but she kept the surname Grové professionally.
